Frequently asked questions.

Exactly what type of Sci-Fi is “Project Preservation?”

“Project Preservation” is a dystopian Sci-Fi tale. It takes place before, during, and after a planet-wide invasion from beings who claim to be sent from the creator of the universe himself.

The story centers on one woman’s journey of survival as she searches for her friend in the middle of a planet-destroying war.

You follow her on the ground as she attempts to survive while her world crumbles around her. She also discovers that within the very fibers of her body, is an incredible world-ending power, one that forces in the story will do anything—even attempt to destroy an entire planet—to possess.

There are some “superhero” type elements in the story, as the main protagonist discovers and attempts to understand her unusual powers, and it leans more toward action/survival Sci-Fi than “hard” or technical science-fiction. It’s a fast-paced survival apocalyptic tale, with the central theme being a mother’s love for her newborn child.

The story is told from multiple points of view, with the main character “Naye” always being the focus.

Another prominent character within the story is Stuk’aith, the prophet of the Osihlian people who claims Naye is the false pretender and will do all within his power to expose her, or worse.

There’s a varied and unusual cast alongside Naye, and perhaps even an epic plot twist (or two).

However, Project Preservation is centered around the main character Ezinne (Naye) Proclaven. This is her story, and ultimately her fight!

What Is Black Sci-Fi?

The main cast is based on a black race identical to humans. The book is set on a planet with an all-black population. So all the rich tones, cultures, and feelings that would bring are reflected in this book. Think Star Wars Rogue One meets Black Panther and you’ll have an idea of the visual feel of Project Preservation!

Is there Time Travel within the story?

Yes, but not in a manner you may have read about or watched before!

What’s the overall “mood” of the story?

The story is focused on a young woman trying to survive in the middle of a planet-wide war, all while protecting her newborn child. She loses loved ones, friends, and family. People die in wars. The story and mood of many pages of this book can be heavy. There is death and sadness. However, there remains a small glimmer of hope in Naye’s world—her son.

Are there triggering themes in the book?

This book contains bloodshed, death, brutal scenes of war, and people and loved ones dying, as well as heavy religious and dark Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi themes. There are no sexual scenes, although there is brief romantic affection in a couple of places in the story. If any of this sounds like it could be triggering, please approach with caution.
